What You Will Be Able to Apply
The objective is not simply to memorize examination concepts. Participants develop the ability to apply project management principles to realistic workplace situations.
PMP® Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must satisfy one of PMI's education and project leadership experience pathways and complete the required project management education.
Pathway 01 — Bachelor's Degree or Higher
A bachelor's degree or higher, or an equivalent qualifying credential, plus approximately 36 months / 3 years of non-overlapping project leadership experience within the applicable experience window.
Pathway 02 — Secondary Education
A high school diploma or equivalent, plus approximately 60 months / 5 years of project leadership experience within the applicable experience window.
Pathway 03 — PMI GAC Program
A bachelor's or postgraduate degree from a PMI Global Accreditation Center (GAC) accredited program may qualify through the corresponding reduced experience pathway.
35 Hours Project Management Training
Candidates need 35 hours of qualifying project management education before submitting their application, unless an applicable PMI pathway such as an active CAPM® certification provides the required credit.

PMI provides PMP examination delivery through approved testing options, including test-center delivery and secure online proctored testing, subject to PMI's current availability and requirements.
The current examination can include a combination of multiple-choice / multiple-response questions, case or scenario questions, matching or enhanced matching, drag-and-drop interactions and other interactive or application-oriented question formats.
The examination emphasizes practical decision making rather than simple memorization and covers predictive, agile and hybrid project environments.
Passing Marks / Scoring
PMI does not publish a simple fixed passing percentage or universal number of marks for the PMP examination. Candidates are assessed using PMI's examination scoring methodology and receive an examination result based on their performance.
